March 2010 meeting

With the help of Tom Budke, the next meeting will be held at 1:00 PM, March 27th at the new location of the Hardwood Lumber & More store in the Milford Shopping Center at

1001 Lila Ave.
(Route 50) Milford, Ohio 45150.  You can find out more about HL&M at their website: http://www.hardwoodlumberandmore.com/ .  Driving directions are located on the website.

The first agenda for the meeting is to discuss ideas to reorganize MLG.  Items that I would like to discuss include:

  • A permanent meeting place (most likely HL&M)

  • Volunteer MLG officers or board members

  • Volunteers to plan and run meetings

  • Annual Dues

  • Future meetings/number of meetings per year

  • Time to hold meetings Saturdays (morning or afternoon) or Weekday evenings

  • Shop tours/cookouts

  • A volunteer to develop a MLG website (midwestluthiersguild.org has already been registered for our use by my friend Walt Witham)

The rest of the meeting will be open.  Tom Budke, who works at HL&M, has offered to give a short update on the status of various woods used by luthiers.  I’m sure that Tom will also be able to give us a short tour of the store and discuss the type wood and other products they carry.

In addition, Dann Ross will be bringing some of his Hayes and Tanner Creek guitars for show and tell.  If you have a guitar, tool, jig or anything else to share, bring it.  We will have plenty of time.  The store closes at 5:00 PM.  We might even be able to get together a jam if there is interest and the store owner doesn’t mind a little music.
